Fields: Select Profiles
Before a search limit can be used as an optional (patron-selectable) search limit, the default optional search limit, or an enforced limit, you must use the Assign Limit to Profiles page to make the search limit available to one or more search profiles.
Search Limits > Select Profiles
Once the search limit is available to a search profile, you can edit the profile, enable the search limit for the profile, and specify whether the search limit is an optional limit or an enforced limit. You may also specify which enabled optional search limit is the default optional search limit for the search profile, and whether the search profile can view search results for all enabled search targets without any results being restricted by the displayed optional search limits. For more information about enabling and configuring a search limit for a profile, see Configuring search limits for a search profile.
When you have finished entering data on the Assign Limit to Profiles page, choose OK to save your changes, or choose Cancel to discard your changes and return to Search Limits.

A search limit only affects searches of the Discovery search targets. Searches of federated search targets are never restricted by search limits. |
|
If you add, edit, or remove a search limit from a profile, you must do the following re-index your data and refresh the Discovery administrator database metadata cache in the Discovery Server application. For more information, see Refreshing the search cache. Your changes to search limits will not be reflected in Searching or when a search limit is applied to search results until you haves completed these tasks. |
Search Limit
Displays the name of the currently-selected search limit.
Available
Displays a list of all the defined profiles on the system.
You can select or multiselect one or more profiles and then click Select, or you can double-click individual profiles to move them to the Selected list.
Selected
Displays a list of profiles to which the search limit is available. The selected profiles will include the search limit in the list of available search limits when an administrator edits the profile to specify which search limits will be enabled for that search profile.
You can select or multiselect one or more profiles and then click Remove, or you can double-click individual profiles to move them to the Available list. Select a single profile and use the arrow buttons to move it to or from the Selected list.
To add or remove profiles in the list, choose the profile, and then use these buttons:
Option | Description |
---|---|
Select
|
Moves the selected profile from the Available list to the Selected list. |
Remove
|
Removes the selected profile from the Selected list and returns it to the Available list. |
Note: These buttons are context-sensitive based on which profile(s) you choose. For example, if you select a profile from the Available list, the Remove option is disabled because that command is not available for available profiles. If you select a profile from the Selected list, the Remove option is enabled because that command is available for selected profiles.
